Core Group Meeting:  Core Group Meetings are held at the Annapolis Dealership at 7:00 pm. Volunteers are welcome to help assemble the newsletter.

Delaware Coast Ride

Destination: Mike's Famous Harley-Davidson, New Castle DE
Cost: None
Special Requirements: None
Comments: We'll take some easy-riding roads across the Eastern Shore with a pit stop in Dover. Then on Del. Rt. 9 for a run up the coast along the Delaware River. The roads are scenic, going through small towns and usually with not much traffic. Mike's Famous Harley-Davidson is one of the country's largest dealerships and is convenient to several major highways
including I-95 for your trip home.

Comments: Winterthur Estate is the former home of Henry Francis du Pont. The house is home to antiques and Americana and also has a 60-acre garden.

Chesapeake Lighthouse Challenge Day One

Depart: Take exit 43B Chester River Beach Rd. At end of the exit make a right into 7-11 at the exit.
Departure Time: 9:00 a.m. Briefing Time: 8:45 a.m.

Distance: 140 Miles one way
Destination: St. Michaels, MD then lunch stop, then to Turkey Point at Elk Neck State Park, MD, then to Havre de Grace, Md.
Cost: $5.00 Per Person Hooper Strait Light house admittance,
$3.00 Per Person Elk Neck State Park, Lunch.
(Also $2.50 to cross Bay Bridge to get to start point and
$2.00 to return thru Harbor Tunnel)
Special Requirements: None
Comments: Riders will be participating in part of the Maryland’s 6th Annual Lighthouse Challenge. We will be visiting three of the land based Lighthouses along the East side of the Bay. A special commemorative campaign style button/pin will be available at each lighthouse. See the Challenge web site at www.cheslights.org for detailed info. Riders participating in this ride are NOT required to also ride Day one on Saturday; you may ride either day or both days, your choice. Those wishing to complete the entire challenge will have to do both the Sat and Sun rides and complete an additional visit on their own at the end of each days ride. Riders will be given directions for an additional Lighthouse Challenge stop in Baltimore (Sat) and can take a short bus ride at Solomon’s Island (Sun). A “Special” commemorative gift is offered to those who visit all 10 lighthouses.

Comments: There will be a short discussion on our riding techniques and rules followed by a short ride to practice the various skills. This is an excellent ride for new members or those experienced riders that have not ridden with our Chapter. This ride is mandatory for all new Chapter members regardless of riding experience. This ride assumes you have already mastered the basic motorcycle handling skills.

Chesapeake Lighthouse Challenge Day Two

Destination: Ft. Washington, Point Lookout, MD, then Lunch stop, then Piney Point, MD and then Solomon’s Island, MD
Cost: $3.00 Per Person State Park fee Point Lookout, $2.00 Per Person if you wish to climb Piney Point Lighthouse, Lunch. $3 per vehicle for Ft. Washington National Park.
Special Requirements: None

Road Kill Café Ride (Canceled for rain, rescheduled for October 18TH)

(This ride is not recommended for new or inexperienced riders. Anticipate a long days of 300 miles with long interstate distances and demanding back roads)

Route:
New Route!!  I've revised the route to shorten the time on the interstate and maximize back roads.  We'll travel I-70 to Frederick, MD, and US 340 to Charlestown, WV.  Then its back roads through Paw Paw, WV, and a loop around the Green Ridge State Park to the Road Kill Cafe.  On the return, I plan to hit Little Orleans, Hancock, and more back roads back to  Martinsburg, Harpers Ferry, Frederick, and home.

Costs: No tolls or fees

Note:  Plan on breakfast at the Mountain View in Charlestown.
