    • Rommel Harley Davidson Annapolis Dealership

The Annapolis Harley Owners Group (Annapolis HOG) will be grilling burgers and dogs and occasionally other things at the dealership throughout the spring and summer.  If you are going to be in the area, stop on in, check out the dealership and enjoy a delicious lunch and something to drink.

While you are there, ask one of our members behind the grill, about the Annapolis HOG Chapter.  We do weekly group rides, overnight weekend trips, week long excursions and other events throughout the year.  We love to ride, and we love to have fun.  Stop by, have some lunch and check us out.  We think you will see why we are so excited about riding to great places and doing great things.

     Pre-Ride Briefing:  8:15 am

     Departure:  8:30 am

Special Requirements: Come prepared to see the most wonderful kids who truly love motorcycles but just can not drive them by themselves!!! They look forward to this camp all year long. A moving experience for them and also us as motorcycle riders!

    Comments

At the camp we may be provided lunch, if not we will stop on the way home. Due to the fact that most of the campers are in wheel chairs, space between the parked bikes will be needed. Therefore, we need to limit the number of motorcycles to no more than 20.

Please go on the website and sign up (but if there is a chance you can not make it, please do not sign up so we have room for those that can… Thank You!). This is a camp for kids, please dress appropriately, a chapter shirt is preferred. You may want to consider bringing a towel to protect your bike. Kids like to sit on the bikes if possible for pictures only and we can not take them for a ride unless we have a side car set up on our ride.  You can stay as long as you wish and maps will be provided for your return trip in the afternoon.

We all have watched the Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Telethon’s years ago. These kids are just amazing. This is our time to shine and show them how much we as the motorcycle HOG family support both the camp and kids in this one day great event. Please if you can, try and take a day off and spend some quality time with some folks that can’t do what we can do, RIDE A MOTORCYCLE!!!

Comments:  Are you good at Carnival games?  Join us as we head through back roads of Howard and Montgomery Counties to Battley Harley-Davidson in Gaithersburg to show our support to Montgomery County HOG Chapter’s Annual Carnival of HOGs Primary Event.  This event differs from a traditional Poker Run type event.  Rather than just pulling cards, you’ll get the opportunity to test your “skills”, to accumulate points, on a variety of Carnival games positioned around the Dealership parking lot.  To add to your point total, join the Road Captain led ride to a secondary location for a couple additional games.

Cost for each participant will be $10.  Free lunch will be provided and door prizes available to win.  Once our shopping fixation is satisfied, we’ll head out in the direction of our home station – Rommel Harley-Davidson, Annapolis for the Crabtown Bike Show.

    Pre-ride briefing at 7:45.

Comments: For those that have not been, this is a great week of riding.  The first and last day will be mostly interstate.  It is about 400 miles to Cross Lanes.  Don't worry, we will stop often enough that you will not get tired and as interstates go, WV has some of the most fun roads for bikes.  Once there, we will have 5 days of riding in the mountains and valleys.  Twisty roads, rolling hills, mountain roads, and more.  If you think you are in someone's driveway, then you are still on the road.  Just watch out for oncoming traffic.  We will make at least one stop at Hillbilly Hotdogs for lunch.  Probably on July 4.  I will make sure we are back at the hotel in time for dinner before we go see the fireworks for those that want.  You don't have to gamble just because we are staying at a casino.  They provided the best price and amenities of any other local hotel.  There is food available 24 hours a day and breakfast is free.  You will have fun on this trip and if you are new to the chapter or have been around for awhile, you will make new friends.  If interested please sign up early so I know how many rooms to reserve.  All reservations must be made by June 16 and don't forget to let me know once you make your reservation.

Join us for a ride out to the country for a farm fresh lunch at the Brooms Bloom Farm in Bel Air MD.  The farm and farmhouse date back to the early 1700’s and is named after the colonial land grant for the area.  In 1997 the owners began milking the 65 cows on the farm and began making and selling old fashioned ice cream in their café.   The ice cream is so good that some Chapter members have been known to greet the cows with a “Hello Ladies” in appreciation for their contribution to the process.

    Comments:
We will be taking a leisurely route through the backroads and byways of Maryland as we make our way to Potomac MD and Great Falls National Park.

At Great Falls, the Potomac River builds up speed and force as it falls over a series of steep, jagged rocks and flows through the narrow Mather Gorge.  The Maryland side of the falls also abuts the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal that runs from Washington DC, 187 miles north to Cumberland, MD and a canal lock that raises and lowers canal boats as they travel the up and down the canal.

Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the quiet atmosphere while you imagine life back at the turn of the century when the canal moved goods faster than almost any other method.
